George Fox's opinion that the Church is not a building, but rather the people who believe the Bible and try to obey it, is not popular with the English government and the Church of England. Fox is always in trouble for his ideas, and had offically left the Church of England to create the Society of Friends, or Quakers. When the father of 12-year-old Tommy Stafford and is sister, Celia, decides to break with the traditional church to join the Quakers, the children become involved also.
