Ellen G. White

“It was by his words, not by his appearance, that the Saviour recognized the enemy.”

Once in a lonely desert Jesus, the Creator, was put to the test by Satan, His most cunning creature, and the fate of the world hung in the balance. Emaciated by 40 days of fasting, Jesus faced the most enticing sophistries of the great deceiver and met each seductive argument with Scripture: “It is written.”

Confrontation explains the secret of Jesus’ victory in the wilderness of temptation, and how that same victory can be yours today. Ellen White delves beneath the surface to reveal the eternal consequences at stake in the ongoing battle between good and evil. This volume will give you spiritual strength and added courage in your own struggles with the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

In 1874 and 1875, Ellen White wrote a series of 13 in-depth articles on the temptation and fall of man, the plan of redemption, and the victory of Christ in the wilderness that were published in the Review and Herald. In these she devoted more attention to lessons drawn from the experience of man and Jesus christ in meeting temptation than to the sequence of historical events. The series closes with practical applications to present-day situations.

These articles, with some paragraphs added by the author, were later republished in a 96-page pamphlet included in the Redemption series, which later became part of the Spirit of Prophecy, and still later, The Desire of Ages.

In this attractive reprint of the original pamphlet, the reader will find encouragement and practical lessons and encouragement for living.

Paper, 94 pages.
