Activated charcoal, long known to the ancients as a substance of therapeutic value in a variety of maadies, has recently been “rediscovered” to be of great genera use as an oral antidote for drug overdoses and poisonings. It has also recently been recognized as an aid for treating gastrointestinal disturbances. And, poultices made of charcoal pastes have been found to be effective for treating skin wounds, itching, and insect bites and stings.
In this short but comprehensive book, the author gathers what has been reported to date on the use of activated charcoal as an oral antidote and as a remedy for other ailments. A wide range of absorption studies involving activated charcoal and viruses, bacteria, bacterial toxins, fungal toxins, etc., are also reviewed.
