Ellet J. Waggoner

In Glad Tidings, Elder Waggoner emphasizes the truth that salvation is not found through burdensome and futile works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ. This is a fine commentary on Galatians and is recommended for all those who seek an effective understanding of salvation.

The Epistle to the Galatians, together with its companion, the Epistle to the Romans, was the source, through the Holy Spirit, of the Reformation of the 16th century. The key-note message of the Reformation was, “The just shall live by faith.” The reformation then begun is not yet complete, and the same watchword needs to be sounded now as then. If the people of God will become filled with the truth so vividly set forth in this epistle, both the church and the world will be stirred as profoundly as in the days of Luther.

As E. J. Waggoner and A.T. Jones began to emphasize this message again in 1888, they published a number of books and booklets on the subject of Righteousness by Faith. This is one of the key titles on this vital subject, first published in 1900.
