In 1852 James White expressed a need for a paper for the youth in the church. In the summer of that year, a monthly magazine entitled
The Youth’s Instructor was launched. For several years, this paper served a wide range of youth in the Adventist church. In 1879 the paper changed to a four-page weekly issue, and was published in this format until 1970, varying in size from 4 to 32 pages per issue. During her lifetime Ellen White wrote about 470 articles for
The Youth’s Instructor.
