Review & Herald, October 24 and 31, 1893

This tract, and its companion, Let Both Grow Together, were written when the perceived defects in the church were threatening to splinter it. These articles, printed in The Advent Review and Sabbath Herald on January 3 and 10, 1893 (Let Both Grow Together), and the following October 24 and 31, 1893 Brotherly Love Needed), were in answer to A. W. Stanton’s book, The Loud Cry, in which he wrote that the church had become part of Babylon. In these articles, one written before and one after the publication of Stanton’s book, Ellen White presents principles of relating to defective brethren and a defective church.

In light of many accusations still being cast back and forth on various issues within the church, these articles are as applicable today as when they were first written. In the two articles reprinted here, Mrs. White calls for humility and compassion, and the putting aside of human opinion, evil surmising and a judgmental attitude, especially among the brethren of the church. But rather, every effort should be made to uplift, encourage, and support. And for those who have truly backslidden, every effort should be made to win them back with love and tenderness.

Paper, 24 pages, with an attractive Review and Herald facsimile cover.
