God named Cyrus the Great through the prophet Isaiah more than a hundred years before his birth! He also predicted that Cyrus would issue the first decree permitting the captive Jews in Babylon to return and rebuild their beloved Jerusalem.
Biblical prophecy has little to say of the nations of earth except as those nations are to fulfill a part in the program which God is working out on this planet. Cyrus, although unacquainted with God, was an instrument used to this end. This is the story of Cyrus and his pivotal role in history.

But aside from the fascinating facts of the story, it is hoped that it will inspire faith and confidence in God, who alone knows the future, who rules in heaven and on earth; and who, opposing influences to the contrary, will ultimately work out the purpose of His own divine will.
