Recognizing
the potential of TV production to reach the world, Jeff Reich, Director of
Laymen Ministries, began praying in 1991 about building a television
studio.
In the
early 1970's Jeff worked for an NBC television affiliate where he learned
about lighting, switching, cameras and many technical skills needed for
video production. Pulling from his experience and inspired by the late Jim
Arrabito of LLT Productions, Jeff bought a video camera
and began producing videos. He saw the potential for new media and video
content and knew this was the direction we needed to be headed as a church
to reach people around the world.
It was in
1995 when the board and staff started praying for the funding to build a
video production facility. Donations came in from around the world and p
eople stepped forward to help with construction. This prayer was answered
and the television studio become a reality. God helped us to realize a new
dream—television production!
In 1997 we
started airing our programs on 3ABN. Over time we expanded to air on The
Hope Channel, and other cable stations and low-power channels. As we
expanded we became the pioneers of Seventh-Day Adventist TV production in
India. Today we are producing in three languages on several networks seen
across India and around the world. We are now moving forward to build a TV
production center there as well. God continued to bless and we later
expanded into the Russian language. Over the years we have helped other
organizations with video production, such as Gospel Outreach, All Power,
Bangladesh School Sponsorship and more.
In 2009
Laymen Ministries sold several decks, a video switcher and other outdated
equipment. We then purchased some High-Definition production and
post-production equipment to keep up with modern
digital
technologies.
We
appreciate your prayers for this ministry as we continue to move forward
with God’s guidance to proclaim the Three Angel's Messages.
