By Steve Wohlberg and Chris Lewis

The Character of God Controversy: A close look at the intense love and justice of God Almighty

This book deals with Lucifer's ongoing smear campaign against God's character as it is revealed in the Bible -- a blend of justice and mercy, rooted in love. God's wrath is also carefully explored and evidence is overwhelming that there are times when God does act directly in judgment, and that He is entirely just in doing so. The book counteracts the current God-Doesn't-Kill theory growing rapidly within Adventism, and yet maintains its focus on God's love, Gethsemane, the cross, and the plan of salvation.

Readers of this book will become aware that God is love but He hates sin, and that there is a proper way to hold these two realities in tension. You will discover that God's wrath is not a counterpoint to His love, but rather an expression of it. Could it be that God hates sin less because it offends His nature (though it is true that holiness and sin cannot coexist), than because it distorts our perceptions and separates those He loves from Him? If we truly believe that God not only loves, but also is love, then we must also believe that He takes no action -- including the destruction of the wicked in a final act of judgment -- that is not motivated by love.

The book has a wealth of Spirit of Prophecy quotes that support Scripture, and yet it was written for non-SDAs too. Paperback, 160 pages.
