By Jethro Kloss

Jethro Kloss was one of the foremost advocates of the early 20th Century of promoting optimal health through natural foods, herbal medicines and home remedies. He advocated that the fundamental principle of true healing consists of a return to natural habits of living. This book is not only the culmination of his own research, but has been revised and updated with a great deal of modern information as it has become available since the original book was published in 1939.

As the author studied and practiced what he learned during his lifetime, he continually updated information that he presented on herbs, natural remedies, nutrition, healthful cooking, home health care, and the latest medical information. He was forward-looking and eager to adopt whatever was valuable, as long as it did not conflict with the basic laws of nature. The best advertisement for his own work, Kloss lived to be 83 years of age — a very advanced age for the era in which he lived.

“The scripture that says ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge,’ is surely being fulfilled. But our living Heavenly Father sees the world’s untold suffering and wretchedness. He has made provision that if we use these things that He has provided they will surely bring relief. Read in this book about the wonderful properties that are in trees, herbs, flowers and roots, and leaves of the trees, which the Holy Book says are for our medicine. Ezekiel 47:12.“ — Jethro Kloss.

The Kloss family has put a great deal of time and effort into expanding and enhancing the original content. All the essential material have been retained, medical terms and vocabulary have been updated, though the old terms have been retained for their historical interest.

A number of vital topics, such as vitamins, minerals, proteins, etc., which were mentioned only briefly in the early work have been substantially expanded, and many other timely topics have been incorporated. New illustrations, photos, and charts better illustrate techniques described. And a new appendix and glossaries have been added, as well as a comprehensive index. Gain insight into the man who began this work through several personal glimpses of Kloss’s family members.
